Split Rock Lighthouse State Park is a hop, skip, and a jump up the North Shore of Minnesota. At first, you get this huge anticipation from the road where there’s a slight break in the tree-line and you see the historic lighthouse from afar.

Once you get into the park you go down the trail and walk to the shore of Lake Superior and stand in awe at the view. One of my favorite things to do here is sit and listen to the waves crashing against the earth.

If you walk down the shore a little you will find a little shed with a huge staircase that leads up to the lighthouse. When I visited this park the lighthouse was closed due to COVID-19 but eventually it reopened!

Near this stairway to Heaven, there’s a trail that leads back to the entrance of the park and it is beautiful! It was lined with wildflowers and animals.
This was such an amazing trip! I would definitely recommend this State Park to anyone who loves to hike and get out side! It’s one of my favorites and a must-see!
